Hoi zäme!

Late Sunday night I returned from my best trip so far, Switzerland. It is seriously the most beautiful place I have ever been. I instantly fell in love with it. We hooked up with a student travel company, Bus2Alps so basically everything was taken care of for us which was nice. We arrived in Interlaken, Switzerland early Friday morning (4AM) after a 12 hour bus ride...but it was worth every second.

We got up Friday after just a few hours of sleep and headed down to breakfast, and then off to explore! What a gorgeous place. Interlaken is the adventure capitol of Europe so basically everyone there is there for a good time, and of course adventure. There are para-gliders falling from the sky all day long. We went canyoning on Friday which was so much fun. If I could do it again I would definitely pick a bigger or more challenging canyon but I had a great time!

This was called the Superman Jump haha. The guide made sure to inform me before throwing me off the rock that if I landed to close to the left side there is a really sharp rock. Thank goodness I didn't hit it!

The next day we decided to save some money and go hiking on our own. But first...and most importantly we found AMERICAN BAGLES AND ICED COFFEE! This nice American woman owned a little shop and had a small taste of home to offer us.

In order to get up to the hiking trails you have to take a train, and a gondola because the mountains are so steep and high. So we started our journey at the train station where we met a very nice American Family from Florida who gave us some tips on great places to hike and we went on with our adventure. What a beautiful view there was, and we didn't even go all the way to the top. It was breathtaking. This picture was taken at the beginning of our hike!

The only downside to the hike is that it started to cloud in and rain. It got a little cold up there on those Alps. And since I am so used to the ridiculous heat in Rome I was FREEZING. It was very nice after a day of hiking and exploring to get back to the hostel and take a hot shower and put on jeans and a sweatshirt. Yes you heard me right I actually had to wear jeans!

It was so nice to escape from the hot Rome weather for another weekend. It was nice and quiet and relaxing, and I hope I get a chance to return to Switzerland soon. On Sunday around 2 we started our 12 hour bus ride back to Rome, it was very bittersweet. I highly recommend to any one who is looking for a place to travel that they head to Switzerland, especially if they love the outdoors!
